The holiday season is just around the corner, and Brașov is already buzzing with preparations to transform the city into a winter wonderland. According to a report from Buna ziua Brașov, the city has ambitious plans for this year's Christmas celebrations, promising new surprises and a truly magical atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.

Mark your calendars: the festive lights and the official Christmas Fair are set to open on November 30th, kicking off a season of joy and celebration in the heart of Transylvania.

A City Illuminated

This year, Brașov will be adorned with an incredible 1.3 million lights. City Hall teams have already begun installing the festive ornaments throughout the historic center. The installation work is scheduled to be completed by November 26th, with tests running in the days leading up to the grand illumination ceremony in Piața Sfatului (Council Square) on November 30th.

Historic Center Highlights

The historic heart of Brașov will be the main stage for the holiday festivities, with several key areas receiving special attention.

Piața Sfatului (Council Square)

As always, the Council Square will be the epicenter of the celebration. It will host the main Christmas Fair, along with a stage and screens for events. This year's Christmas tree is promised to be a "very tall, very beautiful" surprise, featuring "absolute novelties" in its lighting design.

Lighting Up Landmarks and Alleys

The festive glow will extend to some of Brașov's most beloved landmarks. Important historical buildings such as Casa Junilor, Poarta Schei (Schei Gate), and Poarta Ecaterinei (Catherine's Gate) will be specially illuminated, giving them a new, brighter image for the winter season.

Visitors can also look forward to surprises in other key locations, including the Rectorat area, Piața Sfântul Ioan, Piața Brassai, and the picturesque Aleea de sub Tâmpa.

City-Wide Festivities

The holiday spirit won't be confined to the old town. The city plans to install 3D light decorations in several major intersections, including:

  • Maternity Hospital
  • Casa Armatei (The Army House)
  • Calea București (at the Saturn intersection)
  • Calea Feldioarei (at the Griviței Blvd intersection)

Additionally, a long list of streets and boulevards will be decorated with festive light strings, ensuring that the entire city shines brightly. These include Str. Republicii, B-dul Eroilor, Piața Unirii, Str. Mureșenilor, and many more, creating a continuous festive route through Brașov.

With extensive preparations underway, Brașov is set to offer a memorable Christmas experience in 2025. The combination of traditional charm and new, dazzling light displays promises a festive season filled with warmth and wonder for everyone.
