Editorial policy

This page explains how we research, check and update our guides, so you know how far you can rely on them.

Our standard

Every guide should be the most useful answer to one traveller question. In practice that means:

  • The answer first. The opening lines tell you what you came for: the price, the time, the route.
  • Facts, not deferrals. We give the current price or timetable and link the source, rather than telling you to "check the website".
  • Primary sources. Prices, hours and timetables are checked against the operator, venue, City Hall or transport company.
  • First-hand detail. We aim to visit what we write about and use our own photos. Where a guide still relies on stock photos or desk research, we're working on replacing them.

Dates on our guides

  • Published is when a guide first appeared.
  • Updated changes only when facts on the page change. We don't change dates without changing content.
  • Facts checked (in the key facts box) is when we last confirmed the prices, hours and timetables, with a link to each source. When a named team member has checked them in person, their name appears next to the date.
  • The What changed list at the end of a guide records each update.

Seasonal guides, such as the Christmas market or skiing, are reviewed every year before the season starts.

How we use AI tools

We use AI tools to help with outlines, translation drafts and proofreading. We don't use them as a source of facts: every price, time and claim is checked against a primary source, and every guide is edited by a person before it is published. We never present AI-written text as someone's personal experience.

Languages

Our guides are published in English, Romanian, German and Italian. Each language version is written for readers in that country, with the place names and practical details they need, rather than translated sentence by sentence. New guides start in English and Romanian.

Corrections

If something is wrong or out of date, tell us through the contact form, with the page and what you noticed. We correct factual errors as soon as we've confirmed them, and note significant corrections in the guide's "What changed" list.

Advertising and independence

The site is funded by Google AdSense ads. Ads are placed automatically and advertisers have no say in our content. We don't accept payment for coverage. If we add affiliate links in future, they will be clearly labelled and won't affect what we recommend.
