The route and its days come from Brașov airport’s flight schedule, the same source as our Brașov airport guide (checked 19 October 2026). Budapest is one of the airport’s year-round routes, alongside London Luton and the German routes.

From Brașov airport to the city

Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport (GHV) is 12 km from Brașov. The A1 bus goes from the airport to the train station (Terminal Gară) every day, every hour on the hour from 07:00 to 19:00, and then at 21:00, 22:00 and 23:00, according to the RATBV timetable. The fare is 5 lei.

Taxis, car hire, the terminal and the way back to the airport are in our Brașov airport guide.

Via Bucharest

If the direct flight doesn’t suit your dates, Budapest also has frequent flights to Bucharest (Otopeni); check wizzair.com and the other airlines’ timetables for your dates. From Bucharest, the train is the easiest way on to Brașov:

  • From Otopeni: CFR’s airport train runs to București Nord (Gara de Nord) in 25 minutes. Change there to one of about 20 direct trains a day to Brașov; take an InterRegio (IR) or InterCity (IC) train, the fastest of which take 2 h 15 min. A second-class InterRegio ticket from Gara de Nord costs 75 lei. The CFR journey planner sells the airport-to-Brașov journey as one ticket.
  • Timetables, fares and the minibus operators are in our Bucharest to Brașov guide.

The direct train from Budapest

Hungary has direct trains to Brașov. According to MÁV’s international timetables (via Debrecen and Carei, via Arad), current in October 2026:

Ister (IC 473 / IC 472), overnight, continues to Bucharest19:10 → 07:5720:54 → 08:50Via Arad and Sibiu

Times are local, and Romania is one hour ahead of Hungary. The Corona has seats, couchettes, a sleeping car and a dining car, according to MÁV; between 25 May and 16 September 2026 it ran only as far as Miercurea Ciuc because of track works. Trains are slower than flying, but they arrive at Brașov station, in the city, with no airport transfer. Timetables change in December, so check times and prices in the MÁV journey planner or the CFR journey planner before you book.
