From 2027 the festival is called Rockstadt Festival. The organiser's ticket shop lists 26–30 July 2027 in Ghimbav, full passes at 848.40 lei and the first names: Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, Overkill, Mgła, Venom, Jinjer and Towards the Sinister.

The next Rockstadt runs from Monday 26 to Friday 30 July 2027 in Ghimbav, 5 km from Brașov. From 2027 the festival drops “Extreme” from its name and becomes Rockstadt Festival. A full pass costs 848.40 lei (about €170) on the organiser’s ticket shop, and the first names are Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, Overkill, Mgła, Venom, Jinjer and Towards the Sinister. There is a campsite next to the stages. In 2026, RATBV buses ran from Brașov every 15 minutes for 5 lei, and night buses took people back to the centre until 03:00.

Since the move to Ghimbav the festival runs from Monday to Friday. The organisers say weekday dates make it easier to book bands touring Europe and leave the weekend free for exploring Transylvania (Rockstadt, 2 July 2025). In 2026 there was also a separate Tribute Day on Saturday 1 August, with tribute bands and an afterparty, for 200 lei or 50 lei for full-pass holders (Rockstadt). Other July events are in What’s on in Brașov.

From Râșnov to Ghimbav, and a new name

Rockstadt Extreme Fest started in Râșnov in 2013 as a three-day festival for a fairly small crowd. It was held there until 2025, when the organisers decided that the biathlon ground they used had become too small (Rockstadt, April 2025).

The new site is in Ghimbav, between Brașov and Codlea, 5 km from the city and 10 km from Râșnov. It is part of a cultural venue developed by Ghimbav town hall. According to the organisers, the grounds are almost three times the size of the whole Râșnov site, the camping area takes at least 4,000 people, and Ghimbav railway station is right across the road (Rockstadt, 2 July 2025; festival map, January 2026).

The new name was announced with the 2027 tickets: from the 2027 edition the festival is called Rockstadt Festival, and the organisers say nothing else changes (official ticket shop).

The line-up

2027, first names: Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, Overkill, Mgła, Venom, Jinjer and Towards the Sinister. The rest of the line-up, the days and the set times have not been announced.

2026, for reference. The festival had 94 acts on three stages over five days (Rockstadt). The biggest names each day, with their set times (Euronews România):

DayHeadliners (set times)
Mon 27 JulySabaton (21:30), Marilyn Manson (23:20)
Tue 28 JulyHatebreed (21:35), In Flames (22:40), Godsmack (23:50)
Wed 29 JulyAccept (20:30), Arch Enemy (21:35), Slaughter to Prevail (22:40), Lamb of God (23:50)
Thu 30 JulyAirbourne (19:50), Helloween (21:00), Amorphis (23:10)
Fri 31 JulyCarcass (19:30), The Prodigy (23:00), Soulfly (00:40)

The music ran from about 14:30 to 02:45, and the festival area was open from 13:00 to 05:00, closing every morning for cleaning (festival rules). The audience is international: the organisers say visitors come from all over Europe and beyond, and Euronews România counted more than 20,000 fans on the first night of 2026 (Euronews România, 28 July 2026).

Tickets and prices

2027 (official ticket shop, checked 10 October 2026):

  • Full pass, general access: 848.40 lei, or in interest-free monthly instalments from 200 lei a month
  • Teens full pass (12–18): 530.25 lei, or from 125 lei a month
  • Day tickets, camping, campervans: not on sale yet
  • The organiser does not refund tickets.

What 2026 cost, as a guide to what’s coming:

  • The first full passes for 2026 went on sale in July 2025 at 825 lei plus VAT (Rockstadt).
  • The last tier of the full pass was reported at 1,250 lei in May 2026 (Economedia) and 1,350 lei during the festival (Euronews România). The teens pass was 550 lei.
  • Day tickets cost 585–685 lei, depending on the day; the Sabaton and Marilyn Manson day was the most expensive.
  • Extreme Camping cost 220 lei (Economedia).

So the earlier you buy, the cheaper it is. Children under 12 get in free with a parent or guardian who has a ticket; the organisers recommend ear defenders for them. Teenagers aged 12 to 18 need a teens ticket and must come with a parent or guardian who has a valid ticket, and staff may ask for ID (festival rules).

Inside, the festival is cashless: you top up a Rockstadt card with cash or a bank card at top-up points and pay with it at the bars, food stands and merchandise stands. The organisers say a beer costs less than €2 (FAQ).

Getting there from Brașov

By bus. In 2026, at the request of Ghimbav town hall, RATBV ran these extra services for the whole festival (RATBV):

  • There: lines 210 and 220 from the Stadionul Municipal terminal every 15 minutes, with extra buses on line 210 when needed.
  • Back: line 211T from the Festival Rockstadt stop to Livada Poștei, in the centre of Brașov, about every 3 minutes between 00:30 and 03:00. RATBV cashiers sold tickets at the stop during those hours. With a ticket or pass you board by the middle door; to pay by bank card, use the front door.

A Brașov–Ghimbav ticket costs 5 lei and is valid for 90 minutes on line 210 and the city lines (RATBV fares). Euronews România’s 2026 guide told visitors to get off at the Făgărașului stop in Ghimbav and walk about 10 minutes. For 2027, check RATBV’s announcements closer to the festival. For tickets, apps and the city lines, see our guide to getting around Brașov.

RATBV runs extra buses between Brașov and Ghimbav during the festival, including night buses back to Livada Poștei.

By train. Ghimbav station is across the road from the site. Check trains from Brașov on the CFR timetable at infofer.ro, as the organisers suggest.

By car. In 2026 there were about 500 parking spaces at 40 lei a day (Euronews România). The organisers ask people not to park near the festival grounds, and to use the official car park or public parking instead (FAQ). Unless you are camping with a car full of gear, the bus is easier.

By taxi. Bolt and Uber both work in the area, according to the organisers.

From Bucharest or abroad. The organisers point international visitors to Bucharest, the main gateway: fly in, then take the train to Brașov, about 2 hours 45 minutes; see Bucharest to Brașov. Brașov’s own airport is also near Ghimbav, with direct flights from several European cities; see our Brașov airport guide.

Camping and where to stay

The campsite is next to the festival, with room for at least 4,000 people, flush toilets and hot showers in containers, and security guards. In 2026 it opened at 12:00 on Sunday 26 July, the day before the music started, and closed at 12:00 on Sunday 2 August. Camping tickets are sold only through the official site. You can bring your own food and drink into the campsite, but not into the festival area. Stoves, barbecues, generators, glass, pets and sound systems are not allowed, and there is nowhere to charge phones in the campsite (there are sockets in the food court) (festival rules; FAQ). A campervan area was planned for 2026 (festival map).

In Brașov. With buses every 15 minutes in the afternoon and night buses until 03:00, staying in Brașov works well: a proper bed and a shower, and the Old Town for the daytime. The organisers list partner hotels and restaurants, some with discounts for festival-goers, on their Beyond the Festival page. Late July is high season in Brașov, so book early.

Watch out for bears. The organisers warn that bears live in the woods around the site and are drawn to rubbish. Don’t go into the forest, and don’t leave food out.

Brașov in the daytime

The weekday dates leave the mornings free. During the 2026 festival there were one-hour guided walks of the Old Town from Piața Sfatului, Monday to Friday at 11:00 and 13:00 in English and 12:00 in Romanian. For 25 lei (students 15 lei, children 5 lei), the price included a combined ticket to seven city museums, valid for two weeks, sold at Casa Mureșenilor in Piața Sfatului (Rockstadt). Our guide to Brașov’s museums and guide to the city cover the rest, and Bran Castle is an easy half-day trip by bus.

Tips

  • Buy early. In 2026 the full pass went from 825 lei plus VAT in the first tier to 1,250–1,350 lei in the last.
  • Pack for rain and mud. July averages a high of 27°C and a low of 13°C in Brașov, with thunderstorms on about 7 days a month in summer (our climate table). The first night of 2026 was rainy and muddy, Euronews România reported.
  • Plan your night bus. The last 211T in 2026 left at about 03:00, while the last sets ended around 02:45.
  • Leave the big camera at home. Professional and semi-professional cameras, and any camera with a detachable lens, are not allowed in (festival rules).
  • Bring ear protection for children, and ID for teenagers.

Is it worth it?

For metal fans, yes. Rockstadt brings around 100 bands a year, with headliners such as Sabaton, Helloween and The Prodigy in 2026, and the organisers say its food and drink are among the cheapest at any European festival. The weekday dates are a drawback if you have to take time off work, but they leave the weekend for Brașov, Bran and the mountains. If you only want to see one band, a day ticket is expensive by Romanian standards, so wait for the daily line-up before you buy.
