Restaurant Panoramic on Tâmpa has published its 31 December 2026 dinner: 1,400 lei per person, 10% off if booked by 31 October. City Hall has not announced the Piața Sfatului programme or the night buses; in 2025 it did so on 29 December.

City Hall’s free New Year’s Eve party in Piața Sfatului started at 19:30 in 2025, with DJs until 01:00 and a laser show instead of fireworks at midnight. The 2026/27 programme isn’t out yet; in the last three years it was reported between 23 and 30 December. The Christmas market stays open until 3 January 2027.

When the programme comes out. City Hall organises the party with Kiss FM România. Local media reported the programme on 28 December 2023, according to Radio Vacanța. In 2024 it came out on 27 and 30 December, with the bus plan in G4Media and the line-up on Brasov.net. In 2025 City Hall published it on 29 December.

A Kiss FM announcement ran earlier, on 23 December 2025, as paid content on Antena 3. The bus timetable came out with the programme. We update this page as soon as the 2026 version appears.

The party in Piața Sfatului: 31 December 2025

The party ran on the stage in the square. Entry was free, Brașov Știri reported on 31 December 2025. This was the programme, as City Hall published it on 29 December 2025:

TimeWhat
19:30Greek music with Christian Juncu and Cosmin Marghele
19:45DJ Claudiu Albu, a 16-year-old DJ from Brașov
21:00ALTOO
22:30–01:00DJ Adrian Șaguna
00:00Laser show, instead of fireworks

DJ YAANG of Kiss FM was the host.

  • No fireworks. City Hall announced in autumn 2025 that it would stop organising the fireworks in Piața Sfatului, so as not to frighten pets (Wall-Street.ro, 7 November 2025). In 2024 the night still had a 12-minute fireworks display at midnight, launched from the White Tower and framed by two laser shows (Brasov.net, 30 December 2024). Local press noted in 2025 that there is no explicit ban on selling or using fireworks, so private fireworks around the centre are still possible (News Brasov, 31 December 2025).
  • The Christmas market stayed open late. The food and drink area traded 14:00–01:00 on 31 December 2025 (Piețe Publice Brașov). The market’s dates, stalls and prices are in our Brașov Christmas market guide.

Is it worth it? Yes, if you want to be in the square at midnight and pay nothing. In 2025 it was a DJ night with a laser show, and there were no fireworks. If you want a sit-down dinner, a live band or fireworks, you need a hotel or restaurant event, covered below.

Getting home: night buses and the road closure

On 31 December 2025, RATBV ran its normal weekday timetable from 05:00 to 21:00, and then, according to City Hall and RATBV:

  • 21:00–01:30: buses and trolleybuses on 14 lines: 1, 2, 2B, 4, 5, 6, 16, 17, 24, 28, 31, 34, 36 and 41, linking the centre with every district.
  • Line 20 to Poiana Brașov (from Livada Poștei): one bus between 21:00 and 06:00. The 2025 notices gave no frequency; in 2022 it ran hourly, leaving Livada Poștei on the hour and Poiana on the half hour (Litera 9).
  • Bus staging: a temporary bus parking area was set up between the Astra cinema and the Casa Armatei, to speed up the ride from the centre to the districts.
  • The road: Str. Mureșenilor was closed between Livada Poștei and Maternitate from 23:00 to 00:30, with a fenced 6 m lane for emergency vehicles, and parking in the AJOFM area was cleared from 22:00 on 30 December (News Brasov).

City Hall’s own advice was to leave the car at home, because traffic usually jams. After 01:30 only line 20 was still running, so the other options are walking, a taxi or a ride-hailing car.

1 January. RATBV ran a Sunday timetable on 1 and 2 January 2026, with the first departures at 07:00 on 1 January, and a Saturday timetable on 3 January, according to RATBV’s notice for the first week of 2026. The 2026/27 notice isn’t out yet.

Fares. A single ticket costs 5 lei and is valid for 90 minutes, according to RATBV fares. Since 3 April 2026 RATBV buses have also been free every Friday, 00:00–24:00, and 1 January 2027 is a Friday. RATBV’s Vinerea Verde page doesn’t say whether public holidays are included, so wait for the holiday notice before you rely on it. Tickets, apps and the airport bus are in our guide to getting around Brașov.

Poiana Brașov on New Year’s Eve

Poiana Brașov is the ski resort in the hills above the city, about 1,020 m up and 12 km by road from the centre; see our Poiana Brașov guide. Its New Year’s Eve is mostly run by the hotels:

  • Hotel programmes. In October 2025, Brașovenii listed festive dinners with live music or shows for 31 December at Ana Hotels, Teleferic Grand Hotel, Hotel Aurelius, Hotel Alpin and Silver Mountain. Only the Teleferic Grand Hotel’s programme mentions fireworks (Brașovenii, 22 October 2025). The article describes no resort-wide party.
  • Booking. In December 2024 the president of Poiana Brașov’s tourism employers’ association expected 100% occupancy in the resort’s hotels and guesthouses on New Year’s Eve (Economedia, 19 December 2024). Book a room early.
  • Skiing. Last season only the beginner slopes were open at New Year. Bradul and Stadion opened on Tuesday 30 December 2025, and the upper slopes followed on Friday 2 January 2026, after snowmaking that started on 14 December (G4Media, 31 December 2025). The season before it opened earlier, on 18 December 2024 (Antena 3). The 2026/27 date isn’t announced; passes, slopes and the other resorts are in our skiing guide, and live conditions are on Poiana Brașov today.
  • Getting there at night. Line 20 ran all night in 2025 (see above).

Cold, crowds and safety

  • Cold. December in Brașov averages a high of 4°C and a low of −3°C, with about 24 nights below freezing, and seven of the ten winters from 2015/16 to 2024/25 had at least one night at −18°C or colder (our weather guide). On 31 December the sun rises at 07:56 and sets at 16:44 (sunrise-sunset.org). The 2025 night was forecast to be “extremely cold” (“extrem de rece”), and no extra measures for comfort in the cold were announced (Monitorul Expres, 31 December 2025). A programme from 19:30 to 01:00 is five and a half hours outdoors, so dress in layers; the What to wear today tool turns the live forecast into an outfit.
  • Crowds. Schools are on holiday from 23 December 2026 to 10 January 2027 (Edupedu), and Poiana’s hotels expected to be full on New Year’s Eve in 2024 (see above). Book rooms and tables early.
  • Fireworks and roads. Private fireworks aren’t explicitly banned, so you may hear them around the centre even though City Hall has dropped its own display. In 2025 Str. Mureșenilor was closed around midnight (see above).
