November is Brașov’s quietest month: grey and damp, with afternoons around 10°C, frost on about half the nights and, usually late in the month, the first snow. Come for empty museums, theatre and concerts, and low crowds, or come at the very end, when the Christmas market opens (stalls from 27 November 2026, lights on 30 November) during the 28 November – 1 December long weekend. Plan around the closures: Peleș Castle is shut from 2 November to 1 December 2026, and the Seven Ladders Canyon and the Transfăgărășan are past their season.

Snow in town is possible but usually brief; it lasts longer up at Poiana Brașov. On frosty mornings the cobbles and the slopes up to the city walls can be slippery.

The vintage parade and the food market are from City Hall’s events calendar. Everything about the market is in our Brașov Christmas market guide.
Public holiday: 30 November, St Andrew’s Day (Sfântul Andrei). In 2026 it falls on a Monday, and 1 December, Romania’s National Day, on the Tuesday, so Saturday 28 November to Tuesday 1 December is a four-day long weekend (Digi24). Schools have no holiday in November apart from these two days; the autumn break ends on 1 November.
For 1 December itself and listings beyond these, see What’s on in Brașov.
For the Christmas market, New Year’s Eve and the start of the ski season, see Brașov in December.
What’s open and what’s closed
- Peleș Castle: closed from 2 November to 1 December 2026 for cleaning and preventive conservation. Pelișor reopens after 3 November (National Peleș Museum).
- Bran Castle: winter hours from 2 November, Tuesday to Sunday 09:00–18:00 and Monday 12:00–18:00 (last entry). On 7 November 2026 last entry is at 15:00 because of a private event.

Crowds and prices
The first three weeks are the quietest of the year in Brașov. The crowds come back with the Christmas market and the long weekend from 28 November to 1 December, one of the busiest weekends of the season. On the 2025 opening night, RAT Brașov added 29 extra buses on 13 lines, and the streets around Piața Sfatului were closed to traffic from 17:30 to 20:30 (City Hall).
Room rates vary with the date, so compare a few dates before you book, and book early if you’re coming for the long weekend.
What to pack
- A warm, waterproof jacket, a hat and gloves: days are around 10°C and nights at or below freezing.
- Waterproof shoes or boots with a good grip for wet or frosty cobbles.
- A scarf and an extra layer if you’re going to the Christmas market in the evening.
